Christine Lim

  • Country: Malaysia
  • Cohort: IX

Growing up in Malaysia, a multi-religious, multi-cultural, multi-racial, and multi-ethnic society ruled by a predominately Muslim-controlled government, Christine is convinced that interreligious dialogue is of utmost importance to live together in peace and harmony. Religious tolerance of one’s neighbour who professes a different faith requires effort to understand that faith and belief, which is the underlying reason for their way of life, their thoughts and attitudes in any given situation, their actions and reactions in different circumstances. Christine is conscious that dialogue thrives on friendship and we need to continue to pave the way to promote understanding among each other, for we do not live alone in this world. God has created each of us out of His infinite love and blessed us with His gifts. These gifts given to us are to be used in the service of all humanity.

Christine believes that it is necessary to live in hope and it is possible in the multi-religious, multi-cultural, multi-racial, and multi-ethnic society, she grew up in. Together with an authentic faith formation, interreligious dialogue will enable all to live together in peace and harmony.

Religious tolerance and charity towards one’s neighbour who professes a different faith requires courage and perseverance to understand the other’s faith and belief, the reason for their way of life, their way of thinking, attitudes, actions and reactions in any given situation or circumstance.

Needless to say, with her two years at the Angelicum, Christine grew ever more conscious that dialogue thrives on friendship and we need to continue to pave the way to strengthen understanding and trust among each other, for we do not live alone in this world. God has created each of us out of His infinite love and blessed us with His gifts. These gifts given to us are to be used in the service of all humanity.

In 2019, through the support of the Russell Berrie Alumni Grant Program, she will be working with another alumna on an IRD project promoting biblical reading of the Psalms for daily reflections.
