For this project, Allyson Zacharoff gathered a group of twenty-five other Jewish peers to take a tour of the Old City of Jerusalem to learn more about the Christian and Muslim connections to the land. The tour was led by an experienced interfaith guide, who introduced the participants to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Al-Aksa Mosque. The group also met with a Catholic priest and a Palestinian professor to get first hand perspectives on living in the Old City and concluded the afternoon with a group lunch. Participants found the experience very educational and meaningful.
The program was organized as part of the ACWAY (“A Common Word Among the Youth”) network, an international coalition of young people committed to interfaith and intercultural projects that was established in 2015.
