Fr. Bovas was the Director of the Youth Apostolate of the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum, a member of the Synodal Commission for Youth and Media and Social Apostolate for Major Archiepiscopal Curia.
His interest in interreligious studies is the result of growing up in India, a religiously diverse culture of Hindus, Muslims, Christians, and others. Through his Fellowship at the Angelicum, Fr. Bovas has deepened his knowledge in IRD so he felt well equipped upon his return to India.
Since his return to India, Fr. Bovas had been working as the Executive Director of the Diocesan Caritas where he focused more on the employment of rural youth with poverty. He started programs for giving skill training to 1200 youths from different religious groups. At the same time as a visiting faculty he has given two courses on Nostra Aetate and Unitatis Redintegratio at St.Marys Major Seminary, Trivandrum, India. After completing 5 years in Trivandrum, he was appointed as the Proto Presbyter of the ecclesiastical district of Anchal in which 20 parishes are included. He is also the parish priest of two parishes at Anchal, Kerala, India which include around 330 families. He is working there as the local manager of St.Johns School with 2600 students (40%Hindus 30% Muslims and 30% Christians). With these responsibilities, he is also working as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum and Chief Editor of Christava Kahalam, the Diocesan Publication (Monthly).
