Alumna Sister Gracy Joseph Vadakara ‘12 to serve on Archdiocesan Pastoral Council

John Paul II Center Alumna Sister Gracy Joseph Vadakara ‘12 has accepted the nomination to serve on her Archdiocese’s Pastoral Council in a three-year appointment, starting December 2019. Sister Vadakara received the invitation from Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore in India.

Sister Vadakara, who is the provincial superior of her order, also marked another major accomplishment in December. She held a conference on interreligious dialogue for students in eastern India on December 6. Hindu and Christian students ranging from 19 to 25 years of age listened to Sister Vadakara speak on interreligious dialogue.

“My interest is to foster unity in diversity, to create a harmonious world,” she said.
Sister Vadakara has also started an interreligious library for students in India, fulfilling a “long-awaited dream,” that was well-received by both students and professors. She described the library “friendship without borders” and “a meeting place for Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, and others.”
