SUMMARY:Returning to Aquinas and Maimonides for today's Jewish-Catholic relations
DESCRIPTION:The Middle Ages produced two of the greatest scholastics in history: Jewish Rambam\, also known as Maimonides\, and the Christian Thomas Aquinas. \n  \nEach had profoundly influential views about the relationship between Jews and Christians. \nWe turn to these seminal thinkers to explore how their heritage helps us move forward in contemporary Jewish-Catholic relations. The past is always present in the future. \nProf. Bruce Marshall (US) and Prof. Menachem Lorberbaum (Israel) will help us explore this topic

SUMMARY:How to Confront Anti-Religious Bigotry: The Annual JPII Lecture on Interreligious Understanding
DESCRIPTION:The rise of white supremacist movements has led to a growing swell of antisemitism and Islamophobia. It has also resulted in anger against far-right Christian extremists that has fueled hostility to religion in general. Join our distinguished multifaith panel for a discussion about the problem of anti-religious bigotry and how interfaith cooperation can serve as a bulwark against bias. Our speakers are all affiliated with the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign\, a US-based\, interreligious coalition to end anti-Muslim bigotry. \nThe annual John Paul II lecture is hosted by the Milstein Center for Interreligious Dialogue at The Jewish Theological Seminary with the John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue\, with help from the Russell Berrie Foundation. \n12:00 P.M. (New York); 6:00 P.M. (Rome); 7:00 P.M. (Jerusalem) \nThis event will be held online. Register here.

SUMMARY:Prof. Menachem Lorbebraum on the Task of Theology
DESCRIPTION:The John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue and the Centro Pro Unione cordially invite you to the lecture of Professor Menachem Lorberbaum On the Task of Theology: Theological Foundation of Interreligious Dialogue from a Jewish Perspective. \nProf. Lorberbaum is a Vice-Dean and Professor at the Department of Jewish Philosophy and Talmud at the Tel Aviv University in Israel\, who also teaches at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum). \nDuring his lecture at the Centro Pro Unione\, Prof. Lorberbaum will invite us to look at theology as a chance to reflect critically at our faith commitments and as an occasion to revitalize our standing in the world as people conscious of standing before God. Faith holds out the possibility of radical questioning and of radical hope. Against this background\, the lecture will focus on Isaiah 11 as a call to conceive of eschatological hope as a joint project of human faith in God and a criterion by which our religious commitment should constantly be measured. \n_You are invited to attend it both in person at Centro Pro Unione шт Кщьу (*Via di Santa Maria dell’Anima\, 30*) or online on Thursday Feb 24th @6pm._ \nREGISTRATION LINK \nhttps://jp2center.s3.amazonaws.com/medialibrary/2022/02/20220224-lorbebraum-centro-pro-unione.png
